COMFORTABLE WIN: Amersham and Chilterns RFC’s Joe Butler against Luton RFC at the Ash Grove ground

Andy Fluker converted four and Butler, who rounded off the scoring with a drop goal, one.

Choules said: “We played pretty well in parts, although we made it harder than it needed to be in the middle period. The quality of our handling and the pace at which we played blew them away.

“There were also no injuries, which we were crippled by last season. We’ve made having a fitter and strong squad a massive priority and the time and money we’ve invested in a performance team is already paying dividends.”

Down in Southern Counties North, Beaconsfield went down to a low-scoring 12-3 derby defeat at Aylesbury, while Drifters lost 33-7 at Reading Abbey, and in Berks, Bucks & Oxon One, Chesham were beaten 59-17 at Tadley. All three are at home this Saturday – Beaconsfield to Wallingford, Drifters to Stow-on-the-Wold and Chesham to Abingdon.
