A NEW season at Wycombe Squash & Racketball Club was kicked off by Wycombe MP Steve Baker (pictured) celebrating both the commissioning of major improvements and the opening day of Women’s Squash Week.
The improvements will, somewhat appropriately, comprise a completely refitted and updated ladies’ changing room, as well as the reinstatement of all court walls up to national competitive standards and a new boiler.
They were made possible by a £58,000 grant from Sports England Inspired Facilities Fund and investment from the club.
Mr Baker praised the club’s initiatives in improving the facilities to encourage more girls and women to play squash and racketball and, after the official opening, there was an open afternoon for female members and guests to sample the upgraded facilities.
The new facilities will also provide the potential to attract more national events, such as the Wycombe round of the National Racketball Series, which will be held in November.
