State of the art site unveiled
A STATE of the art school building was officially opened at an event with parents, staff and pupils.
The Beacon prep school in Amersham officially opened its new three storey building which comprises a 250-seat theatre, a science suite of three laboratories, a prep room, a science study, a cooking and nutrition room, eight new classrooms and a learning support centre on Saturday, October 10.
Headmaster, William Phelps,ledtheproceedings, which were followed by tours of the complex.
He said: “I am very proud to be headmaster of The Beacon and to introduce such wonderful new facilities, which will truly enhance the education of every boy at The Beacon.”
Former-headmaster, Michael Spinney, returned to open The Spinney Theatre, which has been named in his honour.
Current parents and Old Beaconians joined staff and pupils in celebrating the culmination of a three phase development project, which has been completed over a planned ten year period.
David Hollander, chair of governors, said: “The governors are delighted with this new state of the art facility for our Beacon community.”
