State of the art site un­veiled

A STATE of the art school build­ing was of­fi­cially opened at an event with par­ents, staff and pupils.

The Bea­con prep school in Amer­sham of­fi­cially opened its new three storey build­ing which com­prises a 250-seat theatre, a sci­ence suite of three lab­o­ra­to­ries, a prep room, a sci­ence study, a cook­ing and nu­tri­tion room, eight new class­rooms and a learn­ing sup­port cen­tre on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 10.

Head­mas­ter, Wil­liam Phelps,ledthe­p­ro­ceed­ings, which were fol­lowed by tours of the com­plex.

He said: “I am very proud to be head­mas­ter of The Bea­con and to in­tro­duce such won­der­ful new fa­cil­i­ties, which will truly en­hance the ed­u­ca­tion of ev­ery boy at The Bea­con.”

Former-head­mas­ter, Michael Spinney, re­turned to open The Spinney Theatre, which has been named in his hon­our.

Cur­rent par­ents and Old Bea­co­ni­ans joined staff and pupils in cel­e­brat­ing the cul­mi­na­tion of a three phase de­vel­op­ment project, which has been com­pleted over a planned ten year pe­riod.

David Hol­lan­der, chair of gov­er­nors, said: “The gov­er­nors are de­lighted with this new state of the art fa­cil­ity for our Bea­con com­mu­nity.”
