Man as­saulted in road rage in­ci­dent

A PEDES­TRIAN was punched in the face by an an­gry driver who then sped off from the scene.

A 56-year-old man, was walk­ing out­side of Cas­tle Field Pri­mary School in The Mid­dle­way, High Wy­combe, at about 3.20pm on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 7.

The vic­tim ac­ci­den­tally stepped in front of a blue ve­hi­cle, but no col­li­sion oc­curred. The man was then in con­ver­sa­tion with the driver, who re­mained sit­ting in the car.

The driver then punched the vic­tim in the face through the win­dow of the car be­fore driv­ing off at speed.

The vic­tim sus­tained a cut to his lip and was treated at Stoke Man­dev­ille Hospi­tal. He has since been dis­charged.

There is no de­scrip­tion of the of­fender at this stage of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer, PC Christo­pher Weather­ley of the pa­trol team based at High Wy­combe Po­lice Sta­tion, said: “I would ap­peal to any­one who saw any­thing sus­pi­cious in The Mid­dle­way­atabout3.20pm last Wed­nes­day to con­tact po­lice by either vis­it­ing your lo­cal po­lice sta­tion or by call­ing 101.

“At this time par­ents would have been pick­ing up their chil­dren from nearby Cas­tle Field Pri­mary School so there are a num­ber of po­ten­tial wit­nesses to the as­sault.”
