Poet writes spe­cial piece for Poppy Ap­peal launch

A CHE­SHAM poet helped launch the 2015 Poppy Ap­peal by per­form­ing a piece she wrote just for the oc­ca­sion.

On Satur­day, Su­san Lacey, 67, from Che­sham, per­formed spe­cially writ­ten po­etry in aid of the launch of the 2015 Poppy Ap­peal in Ayles­bury within the Friar Square Shop­ping Cen­tre and also in a gazebo out­side the Royal Bri­tish Le­gion drop-in cen­tre, in High Street.

Su­san said she found it ‘a re­ward­ing and emo­tional ex­pe­ri­ence’.

Ms Lacey, who was writ­ten thou­sands of po­ems, has pub­lished two books, in­clud­ing At The Drop of a Hat, which is a col­lec­tion of po­etry, and chil­dren’s book Jolly Quickly the Jump­ing Bean.

She is also well-known for her unique per­for­mances of her po­etry, where she dons hats and props and en­ter­tains a wide num­ber of clubs and so­ci­eties.
