Get­ting to the art of the mat­ter

AHOST of Buck­ing­hamshire artists have joined forces to put to­gether an an­nual art fair.

The Friends and Pa­trons of the Buck­ing­hamshire County Mu­seum is launch­ing its eighth Off the Wall art fair at the Buck­ing­hamshire County Mu­seum in Ayles­bury next month.

The fair will run from Satur­day, Novem­ber 14 to De­cem­ber 12.

The event is an op­por­tu­nity to do some early Christ­mas shop­ping, vis­i­tors can buy unique and af­ford­able works of art by lo­cal Buck­ing­hamshire artists.

Some of the artists at the event are from Che­sham, in­clud­ing He­len Bo­den, Bernie Grist, Karen Martin, Diana Strathon and Si­mon Brew­ster, Jan Munro and Su­san Gray.

All the work on dis­play will be for sale and can be taken away, “off the wall” on the day.

Prices start at £30 and prof­its sup­port the work of the mu­seum.

The range of work on view is su­perb with paint­ings, pho­to­graphs and prints mixed in with ce­ram­ics, tex­tiles and sculp­tures.

The launch will be on Satur­day, Novem­ber 14 from mid­day to 2pm with many of the artists present.

Also on Satur­day, Novem­ber 28 vis­i­tors will be able to meet some of the artists who will be in the gallery to demon­strate their work:

- 11am to 1pm Diana Strathon (print­maker) and Su­san Gray (seas­cape artist)

- 1pm to 3pm Brenda Hur­ley (artist) and Bernie Grist (print­maker).

All are lo­cal and ta­lented artists.

On De­cem­ber 5, painter Pe­ter Keegan will be in the gallery from 11am to 2.30pm demon­strat­ing land­scape paint­ing.

Chair­man of the Friends Kate Eck­ett said: “With 28 artists dis­play­ing over a hun­dred works of art there is a huge range of paint­ings, prints, sculp­tures, ce­ram­ics and tex­tiles for buy­ers to choose from.

"We are look­ing for­ward to the open­ing on 14 Novem­ber when many of the artists will be present”.
