Bright idea for light-up paths needs more work
Friends group says no plans to use technology
The Friends of Holtspur Park group has been looking into the idea of putting in place a special kind of illuminated tarmac which would light up the pathways around the park at night time.
However, the idea has been put on hold until more work is done to find out about costs and how the technology would work.
Paul Cornelius, of the Friends of Holtspur Park group, said: “Apparently someone has invented a type of tarmac that can light up an area without electric lighting, might deter vandals.
“It was an interesting idea but it needed a lot more work before it could even be considered, so there are no firm proposals.
“There are currently no plans to introduce it at Holtspur Park.”
He added that park users and nearby residents would also be consulted before any decision was taken.
The Friends of Holtspur Park group and Beaconsfield Town Council has been working together in a bid to improve the park.
New equipment for youngsters was put in place there earlier this year, including a playground, and new seating areas in memory of Bob Russell, who had been chairman of Holtspur Youth Club.
Last year, an outdoor gym area was opened at the site, which has proved popular with park users.
The group is now in the process of further fund raising to make more improvements at the park.
Would you be in favour of illuminated pathways being put in place in Holtspur Park? What else would you like to see placed there in the future?
