New vans to clean up streets

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

SOUTH Bucks District Council (SBDC) has welcomed a new fleet of small vans and sweepers to keep our streets clean.

They have replaced the old vehicles which had been in service for nearly a decade and were replaced after they were deemed unecomonical to repair.

The new fleet of small vans is fitted with the latest environmentally-friendly engines and sweeping technology with improved suction on the sweepers.

South Bucks District Councillor Luisa Sullivan, portfolio holder for the environment, said: “Making the district a clean and enjoyable place to live is always a top priority for the Council and although our street cleaning teams do a really excellent job we’re always looking for ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service.

“The new vehicles will be more efficient and new features on the sweepers will help us to keep the district clean.

“Most of the new fleet are already out and about making a difference in the district, with two more joining them shortly.

“Of course the simplest way to reduce the amount of litter in our area is not to drop it in the first place and we urge residents and visitors to use one of the hundreds of litter bins situated across the district or to take their litter home with them.”
