School children use their shed
MORE children are now able to cycle to school thanks to the installation of a new bike shed.
Pupils, staff and parents at Chartridge School, in Cogdells Lane, Chartridge, are delighted with the new cycle shed that has recently been installed.
Funds were raised for the facility from this year’s Ride Chartridge charity event, which was sponsored by Chartridge Lodge.
was officially opened by head teacher Steve Butler on Friday, November 6.
Mr Butler said: “I’m delighted to be able to have this to encourage more children to cycle and scooter to school.
“Fresh air and exercise has such a positive effect on children’s learning and development and cycling to school each morning supports this hugely.
“Our thanks go to our parents association for raising the funds to purchase the shelter, particularly those who organised our Ride Chartridge cycle sportive this year, which raised a huge amount towards this.
“We would also like to particularly thank Chartridge Lodge too, which very generously sponsored and supported our Ride Chartridge Sportive.”
Hundreds of people took part in the second annual Ride Chartridge, which took place in May.
