Council in festive spirit with free parking offer
Shoppers get early Christmas present on two Saturdays in December
South Bucks District Council has agreed to allow free parking on the two Saturdays before Christmas – December 12 and December 19 – in all its car parks.
The council expects that the two days will be the busiest shopping times in the run up to the big day and are keen to help out shoppers, as well as giving a hand to business owners.
It will mean that shoppers in Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Farnham Common and Burnham will all be able to park for free on the two days in order to get some Christmas shopping done.
The scheme has been successfully run in recent years in the build up to Christmas and South Bucks District Council is keen to repeat the success again this year.
South Bucks District Councillor Luisa Sullivan, portfolio holder for the environment, said “We have offered free parking in the run up to Christmas for the past few years now and I’mdelightedwe’rerunning the initiative again this year. We know Christmas is an important time for traders and we hope free parking will encourage more people to shop locally and support businesses on their doorsteps.”
Among the car parks to be included in the scheme are the Warwick Road car park, in Beaconsfield, and the Altons and Pennecroft sites, in Burkes Road, Beaconsfield.
In Gerrards Cross, the South Bucks District Council-run car parks are in Bulstrode Way, Packhorse Road and Station Road, all of which will be free on December 12 and 19.
There will also be free parking at the Broadway car park, in Farnham Common, as well as the Jennery Lane, Summers Road and Neville Court sites, in Burnham.
