Pensioner appears in court charged with man’s murder
A PENSIONER charged with the murder of a popular 69-year-old made his first appearance in crown court on Monday.
Odysseas Vafiadis, 70, of Birchdale, Gerrards Cross, appeared at Reading Crown Court during a short preliminary hearing.
Vafiadis, wearing a grey jumper, appeared via video link and spoke to confirm his name.
He has been charged in connection with the death of Paul Davidson, from Lansdown Road, Chalfont St Peter, who died at his home on Monday, November 9, following an alleged assault three days earlier on November 6.
The date for a plea and trial preparation hearing has been set for December 11, with a trial date pencilled in for April 4 next year. No application for bail was made.
He was arrested on Wednesday, November 11 and charged the following day.
He appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Friday, November 13, when he did not enter a plea.
