Groups and in­di­vid­u­als set for recog­ni­tion at last

Nom­i­na­tions are now open for Chiltern Dis­trict Coun­cil’s Com­mu­nity Awards 2016 – the chance to recog­nise the vol­un­teers and com­mu­nity cham­pi­ons who do so much to en­rich life in the area.

There are sev­eral award cat­e­gories cov­er­ing the young and old, in­di­vid­u­als, groups, schools and busi­nesses.

Chiltern Dis­trict Coun­cil’s cab­i­net mem­ber for com­mu­nity, coun­cil­lor Gra­ham Har­ris, said: “Our com­mu­ni­ties ben­e­fit from a great many hard­work­ing, ded­i­cated and tal­ented vol­un­teers who qui­etly go about their busi­ness, self­lessly help­ing oth­ers. This is a chance for those who reap the re­wards of the few to say thank you, and to recog­nise the con­tri­bu­tion those of­ten un­her­alded vol­un­teers make. There are eight cat­e­gories to choose from and it’s never been eas­ier to nom­i­nate.

“This is the chance to en­sure all the good deeds we can so eas­ily take for granted are re­warded.”

The clos­ing date for nom­i­na­tions is Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 13 with the award cer­e­mony be­ing held on Thurs­day, March 17. To vote on­line visit www. c hi l t e r n. g ov. uk/ com­mu­nityawards.

For the group which have vol­un­tar­ily con­trib­uted skills and time to the ben­e­fit of a com­mu­nity in Chiltern Dis­trict For an in­di­vid­ual adult (25-65 years old) who has shown com­mit­ment and ded­i­ca­tion in the giv­ing of time, skills and en­thu­si­asm to the ben­e­fit of a com­mu­nity in Chiltern Dis­trict For an in­di­vid­ual over the age of 65 years who has made a ma­jor con­tri­bu­tion to the com­mu­nity in Chiltern Dis­trict through vol­un­teer­ing

For a young per­son up to the age of 25 years old who has pro­vided time and tal­ent to the ben­e­fit of a com­mu­nity in Chiltern Dis­trict To recog­nise out­stand­ing work un­der­taken by lo­cal schools to im­prove the lo­cal com­mu­nity and/or char­i­ta­ble work it un­der­takes that sup­ports wor­thy causes or­gan­i­sa­tion within Chiltern Dis­trict for many years, at least 20 years sig­nif­i­cant ser­vice mem­ber in need of spe­cial care
