Hospital in need of patient drivers
A HOSPITAL is on the lookout for volunteers to help drive buggies to transport patients around its site.
Wexham Park Hospital will soon own two electric buggies which will help drive people with mobility problems when they are at the hospital.
Frimley Health volunteers’ manager Mike Stone said: “We are really looking forward to taking delivery of the buggies and are sure they will be a valuable asset for our patients and visitors who find getting around a bit of a challenge.
“To help us provide the service, we are looking for volunteers with a special set of skills.
“Not only will they need excellent driving skills with a full, clean driving licence, but also good listening and communication skills, along with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion and a willingness to help others.”
To become a buggy driver, volunteers will need to complete a training session and an assessment to become a registered electric vehicle driver within the hospital trust.
They will also need to work at least four hours a week between the hours of 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, for a minimum of one year.
Mr Stone said: “We hope that people in our local community will step forward and volunteer for this role.”
