Get in the festive spirit and help a great cause
HEARING Dogs for Deaf People will be decking the halls and kicking off the most magical time of the year with its annual Christmas Market this Saturday and Sunday November 21 and 22.
The charity is inviting Christmas shoppers, dog lovers and Santa’s fourlegged helpers to its merry training centre in Wycombe Road for two days of festive fun.
There will be plenty of Christmas-themed activities and stalls on offer for all the family, and some of the charity’s celebrity supporters are expected to make an appearance.
Melanie Tyrer, National Events Manager for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said: “Tis the season to be jolly – so dust off those Christmas jumpers and come and join us for the annual Christmas Market at Hearing Dogs.
“Our adorable Rein-dogs and Shetland ponies will be helping Santa to make his list and check it twice, and the Handy Voices Signing Choir will be signing carols.
“There will be plenty of
favourite gorgeous gifts and stocking fillers on offer, plus mulled punch, Christmas crafts, and even a magical grotto where children can meet Santa himself.
“The Hearing Dogs’ Christmas Market is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit at our beautiful centre in Buckinghamshire, and we hope that everyone will come out and support us for a fantastic cause.”
There will be a Grand Raffle including a Honda Vision scooter and other prizes, plus lots of delicious refreshments and interesting stalls to browse.
The Christmas Market will raise vital funds for the Buckinghamshire-based charity, so that more deaf people can be partnered with a life-changing hearing dog.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and children aged five to 12. These can be bought on the day and the market is open on Saturday from 11am8pm and Sunday 11am4pm.
All visitors will receive a mince pie and cup of mulled punch. For more information including opening times, visit www. hearingdogs.org.uk/ market. A CHRISTMAS showcase is set to entertain a town this festive season.
The Amersham Christmas Showcase will be held on Saturday, December 5 – the same day as Small Business Saturday.
Organiser, Chris Wilson, said: “Last year’s Christmas Showcase proved hugely successful and endorsed the original idea of linking our Christmas festival to Small Business Saturday to Showcase our town’s local businesses and talent on an entertainment stage.
“This year that concept has been built upon so that the event will now be staged on the three main shopping areas in Amersham on the Hill each with their own entertainment and performance areas on Woodside Road, Hill Avenue as well as Sycamore Road. These areas will be graced with some of the best local talent and professional entertainers appearing.”
The fun-packed day will also include a skating rink, a Santa’s grotto, 30 Christmas themed stalls and an indoor play area.
The event will be raising funds for charities, such as St Francis Hospice, Bucks Search and Rescue, Brain Tumour UK and the Samaritans.
The showcase will be from 10am until 6pm.
