Shoeboxes full of festive cheer

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

A CHURCH has sent 132 shoeboxes full of Christmas cheer to underprivileged children all over the world.

Members of Kings Church in Raans Road, Amersham, took part in Operation Christmas Child.

The church invited its members and the community to fill shoeboxes with gifts so children aged from two to 14 can experience a small taste of Christmas.

During his Sunday sermon, senior pastor Paul Lynch encouraged the 300-strong congregation to participate in the appeal, saying: “We are so passionate about the shoebox appeal, because it gives us an opportunity to demonstrate God's love at Christmas to those children whose needs are so great.”

This is the third year that King's Church has been involved in the shoebox appeal and they have now sent close to 500 of these gift boxes.

The church does not know the precise journey that each individual box will take, nor the specific details or the circumstances of the child who will open it.
