The Vik­ings are com­ing!

PUPILS stepped back in time more than 1,200 years to learn more about the Vik­ings.

Year six pupils from Thomas Hard­ing School,hool, in Fullers Road, Che­sham, ex­pe­ri­enced what hat it was like to be a Vik­ing in 793 AD dur­ingng a re­cent History Day.

They learned sev­eral dif­fer­ent trades des in­clud­ing can­dle making and weav­ing, whenen spe­cial­ist teach­ers from History Off the Pagege vis­ited the school.

Pupils ex­plored Vik­ing arte­facts and took k part in an ar­chae­o­log­i­cal dig, while alll dressed as Vik­ings.

They made amulets that warded off evil, as the age of the Vik­ings was brought to life.

Michelle Gib­bins from the school said: “The whole ex­pe­ri­ence deep­ened their knowl­edge and un­der­stand­ing of life in early An­glo Saxon times.”
