Drop kicking off Christmas
Rugby World Cup winner opens festive fair at high school
KyranBracken, amember of the 2003 World Cup winning squad and winner of Dancing on Ice in 2007, went along to Beaconsfield High School on Saturday to open the fair. He joined hundreds of pupils, parents and local residents at the event, whichwassupported by law firm B P Collins LLP, which sponsored the event and hosted a Christmas cake competition.
Legal partner Sue Andrews was tasked with selecting three category winners and an overall champion, and eventually gave the main prize to year eight pupil Mia Lyndsay for her entry based on the Big Ben clock tower.
Ms Andrews said: “It was incredibly difficult to narrow down the winners from such a large selection of worthy entrants.
“It was evident that all the students had taken a great deal of time and effort to produce some very unique and intricate cakes and they should all be very proud of their hard work.”
The fun continued in the canteen where visitors were invited to sample and order festive wines and cheeses, whilst awardwinning local butcher, HA Price were on hand to demonstrate how best to prepare a Christmas turkey.
By the end of the day, the school had managed to raise £15,000 from the event, which will go towards improvements for the students.
