A classic story of jealousy and betrayal

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - ON STAGE -

A LOCAL theatre company will perform a Shakespeare classic as its next production.

Shakespeare’s tale of jealousy and revenge, Othello, is Pendley Theatre Company’s latest production to be performed at the Court Theatre on Wednesday, December 2 to Saturday, December 5. A cast of ten, new faces and old, perform this abridged and intensified adaptation by Bill Oram who also directs.

“I’m really thrilled to be bringing this great play to The Court Theatre, a long-held ambition of mine,” Bill explained. “The plot moves swiftly and the running time of 90 minutes will flash by.”

Othello is essentially a love story which takes a tragic turn. Othello appears to have everything – a glittering career and a loving wife. The long-overshadowed Iago is consumed with hatred and jealousy and his wife Emilia is unwittingly drawn into his repugnant plans for Othello’s downfall, as are the young ambitious Cassio and the less young Roderigo, would be suitor of Desdemona. Tickets cost £10 and are available from www. courttheatre.co.uk or the box office on 07543 560 478.
