Hundreds brave the wet weather for lights switch-on and shopping
CHRISTMAS arrived in Chesham at the weekend with the annual popular lights switch-on and late night shopping evening.
Thousands braved the wet weather and went a along to Christmas in C Chesham on Friday ( (November 27).
A procession, led by The E Elgiva’s Cinderella p pantomime cast, kicked-off the evening at 6pm walking from the Sainsbury’s end of High Street to the clock tower in Market Square ready for t the Christmas lights switch-on.
The Christmas lights were switched on by Chesham’s mayor Peter Hudson, who was helped by town crier Jane Dodd, deputy mayor Noel Brown and Chesham County Councillor Mark Shaw.
The event also included dozens of stalls manned by local charities and organisations, carol singing, live music, fairground rides and the majority of the town’s shops staying open late.
Father Christmas also came along to the event on his sleigh and children were able to visit him in his pop-up grotto in Costa.
