Hun­dreds brave the wet weather for lights switch-on and shop­ping

CHRIST­MAS ar­rived in Che­sham at the week­end with the an­nual pop­u­lar lights switch-on and late night shop­ping evening.

Thou­sands braved the wet weather and went a along to Christ­mas in C Che­sham on Fri­day ( (Novem­ber 27).

A pro­ces­sion, led by The E El­giva’s Cin­derella p pan­tomime cast, kicked-off the evening at 6pm walk­ing from the Sains­bury’s end of High Street to the clock tower in Mar­ket Square ready for t the Christ­mas lights switch-on.

The Christ­mas lights were switched on by Che­sham’s mayor Peter Hud­son, who was helped by town crier Jane Dodd, deputy mayor Noel Brown and Che­sham County Coun­cil­lor Mark Shaw.

The event also in­cluded dozens of stalls manned by lo­cal char­i­ties and or­gan­i­sa­tions, carol singing, live mu­sic, fair­ground rides and the ma­jor­ity of the town’s shops stay­ing open late.

Fa­ther Christ­mas also came along to the event on his sleigh and chil­dren were able to visit him in his pop-up grotto in Costa.
