MCLEOD TAKES FULL ADVANTAGE
IT WAS free week in the Super Singles Darts League at Marsh Legion, allowing players to catch up on unplayed matches and Steve McLeod took full advantage.
He moved to the top of the league with a 6-4 win over an ever-improving Mark Luckett, going one point clear of Dan Franzen and also remaining unbeaten.
Rob Brereton kept his season moving forward with a 7-3 win over Mick Carlton, which moved him up to seventh spot, while Carlton recovered with an 8-2 victory over Marc Dellar, which included a 180 and a 104 outshot.
Also playing twice on the night was Steven Vaughan, who has missed the early part of the season but is now back on track and sits in 12th place. He first saw off Simon White 7-3, despite his opponent hitting two 180s, before following that up with a hard fought 6-4 win over Trevor Brereton.
Meanwhile, Wycombe Marsh Legion won their first game of the season in the Wycombe & Amersham Darts Club League as they got the better of Bourne End CC 9-5.
A quality match between Holmer Green Legion A and Hazlemere CC saw 180s from both Dave Farthing (Holmer Green) and Herbie Marshall (Hazlemere), and it was Holmer Green who emerged as the winners 9-5.
The Phoenix Club have settled into their new venue well, another impressive win over a gallant Holmer Green Legion B including two 180s from Gary Petford and one from Brian Aislabie. Liam Burgess also hit an outshot of 106 as Phoenix won 10-4.
Riverside Club were the big winners of the week, hammering Cressex CC E 12-2 to stay third, while leaders Penn & Tyler’s Green SC were not at their best but were still to strong for Cressex CC C, Jason Hine’s 180 easing the way to an 11-3 win.
