Pesto adds flavour to OBE

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWYEAR HONOURS -

A BEACONSFIELD woman has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Years’s Honours List.

Clare Blampied, managing director of Italian food producer Sacla’ UK, has been rewarded for ‘services to the food industry.

She established Sacla’ in the UK in 1991, when it was the first company to sell Pesto on the mainstream UK consumer market.

Since then she has steered the company to become a household brand with a rising annual turnover of nearly £30 million and a 57.1% share of all pesto sales.

The company has turned over cumulatively £450m and employs 20 people at its headquarters in Beaconsfield.

She said: “With Sacla’ celebrating 25 years in the UK in 2016, I am immensely grateful to have been selected for such an honour at such a special time. The award is for everyone who has supported me and helped to build the business to where it is today.”

As well as being a known food brand within the UK’s retailers, Sacla’ has built up a reputation in the local community, where it is valued for its support of local charities and schools.
