Chairman’s action for Amersham rewarded
Outgoing head of community group praised for successful initiatives
Chris Wilson has been given the prize by the Chiltern Chamber after being instrumental in a number of events and activities in Amersham over the past two years.
This has including creating and growing the Amersham Christmas Showcase event, and arranging to integrate the Amersham Town Show with the Amersham Round Table’s Carnival to create a bigger and better event for the people and businesses of the town.
Vee Bharakda, chairman of the Chiltern Chamber, said: “Chris has been a fantastic ambassador for Amersham for many years.
“In his role as chair of the AAG, he has been the driving force behind two annual events that have really brought out the best in the people and businesses of Amersham.
“The summer carnival and Christmas festivals have been hugely successful and have gone a long way to raising a very positive profile for the Amersham Community.
“It has been a pleasure working with him and although he is moving on from chairing the AAG, we are delighted that he will continue to help and support the delivery of these fantastic community events.”
As well as masterminding the community events, Mr Wilson has also been a major contributor to the anti HS2 campaign as a fundraiser for the HS2 Amersham Action Group.
He said: “I am delighted and honoured to receive this award because it shows that the business community of Amersham really appreciate the opportunity to come together and make a vital contribution to help us promote everything that is great about this town.
“At a personal level I have been really pleased to receive lots of positive feedback on both AAG’s input to the Town Show element of the Carnival and the Christmas Showcase from all sorts of people throughout Amersham and beyond.
“I shall miss being in the role of chair, but will certainly continue to offer my support to the key projects that I have helped to create as part of the AAG.”
