Chair­man’s ac­tion for Amer­sham re­warded

Out­go­ing head of com­mu­nity group praised for suc­cess­ful ini­tia­tives

Chris Wil­son has been given the prize by the Chiltern Cham­ber af­ter be­ing in­stru­men­tal in a num­ber of events and ac­tiv­i­ties in Amer­sham over the past two years.

This has in­clud­ing cre­at­ing and grow­ing the Amer­sham Christ­mas Show­case event, and ar­rang­ing to in­te­grate the Amer­sham Town Show with the Amer­sham Round Ta­ble’s Car­ni­val to cre­ate a big­ger and bet­ter event for the peo­ple and busi­nesses of the town.

Vee Bharakda, chair­man of the Chiltern Cham­ber, said: “Chris has been a fan­tas­tic am­bas­sador for Amer­sham for many years.

“In his role as chair of the AAG, he has been the driv­ing force be­hind two an­nual events that have really brought out the best in the peo­ple and busi­nesses of Amer­sham.

“The sum­mer car­ni­val and Christ­mas fes­ti­vals have been hugely suc­cess­ful and have gone a long way to rais­ing a very pos­i­tive pro­file for the Amer­sham Com­mu­nity.

“It has been a plea­sure work­ing with him and al­though he is mov­ing on from chair­ing the AAG, we are de­lighted that he will con­tinue to help and sup­port the de­liv­ery of th­ese fan­tas­tic com­mu­nity events.”

As well as mas­ter­mind­ing the com­mu­nity events, Mr Wil­son has also been a ma­jor con­trib­u­tor to the anti HS2 cam­paign as a fundraiser for the HS2 Amer­sham Ac­tion Group.

He said: “I am de­lighted and hon­oured to re­ceive this award be­cause it shows that the busi­ness com­mu­nity of Amer­sham really ap­pre­ci­ate the op­por­tu­nity to come to­gether and make a vi­tal con­tri­bu­tion to help us pro­mote ev­ery­thing that is great about this town.

“At a per­sonal level I have been really pleased to re­ceive lots of pos­i­tive feed­back on both AAG’s in­put to the Town Show el­e­ment of the Car­ni­val and the Christ­mas Show­case from all sorts of peo­ple through­out Amer­sham and be­yond.

“I shall miss be­ing in the role of chair, but will cer­tainly con­tinue to of­fer my sup­port to the key projects that I have helped to cre­ate as part of the AAG.”
