Competition win for website is just ace
A BUCKS business is celebrating after being named the winner of a prestigious national newspaper award.
HouseSitMatch, has been named the winner of The Guardian’s Small Business Network competition.
The Bucks company, an online network which enables home and pet owners to find reliable housesitters and petsitters through a managed website, has been operating since 2013 and now has members in more than 20 countries.
Founder Lamia Walker said: “We’ve worked very hard to get the business off the ground and it’s fantastic to have been recognised for our efforts and our ambitious plans for the future.
“Winning the award has given us a great boost to achieve our long terms goals, which are to grow the business and become the UK’s number one portal for homeowners looking for housesitters.”
The prize, sponsored by Kia Motors, is an allexpenses paid trip to the Australian Open in Melbourne, meaning that Ms Walker will be claiming her prize by flying to Melbourne to attend the men’s semi-final at the end of January.
She added: “To have won the Guardian Small Business Network award is amazing in itself, but to have won the opportunity to travel to Australia is the cherry on the cake.”
The company, based in High Wycombe, boasts a unique review system and unlike other housesitting platforms, homeowners know they can trust the online reviews of housesitters on this website, because they were given solely in connection with a specific housesit on the HouseSitMatch website.
Likewise, housesitters know they can build a secure reputation online by exchanging services with homeowners and that each review is unique to the site and that housesit in particular and therefore reliable.
