Cross vowing to ‘bounce back stronger’ after Aylesbury slip
League leaders’ lead cut to two points and unbeaten record lost in disappointing start to 2016
are better than that and we had some strong words. We need to break out of the traps next week and hit the ground running.”
While Aylesbury, in third, are now four points behind the Cross, main title rivals Harrow are just two points off and they play them in a crunch clash on Saturday week.
Before that, they have the chance to recover from last weekend’s drubbing, at home to mid-table West Hampstead 4s this Saturday.
Causer added: “If we can beat Harrow and keep doing it against the lesser sides, we will win this league, but we need to bounce back stronger.
“We need to get our confidence back next week before the big one against Harrow. We are still missing players, but should have everyone back for that one.
“But we are positive in our ability and confident we can still do it. Sometimes two teams go, but usually just one, so we need to go for first place.”
The Cross will be looking to the goals of Causer, who has nine, and 12goal top scorer Dave Leech if they are to hold onto top spot.
Meanwhile, the ladies team saw their Trysports League Division One clash against Oxford Ladies 4s called off due to a frozen pitch. They are due to visit Milton Keynes Ladies 2s this Saturday.
