Volunteers needed for School Aid
A BUCKS charity is on the look out for more volunteers as it looks to increase the scale of its operation.
School Aid, which is based in Hedgerley, is on the look out for more volunteers to sort and pack books and other educational materials.
The items will then be sent to children in need in Africa, where each day millions of youngsters are unable to attend school, often due to a lack of equipment.
School Aid with the help of partners in Africa, have been able to send 150,000 items to more than 160 schools, universities and libraries, reaching more than 106,000 students.
Many of these books have come from schools and other organisations in Bucks.
Jane Perry, a volunteer with the charity, said; “I have volunteered for School Aid since 2011 as I had some time on my hands.
“There is such a fantastic team of volunteers, all of whom have had such interesting lives and careers and we are able to have a laugh and a chat whilst doing something worthwhile.
“I really look forward to coming to the warehouse each week.”
Volunteers are invited to come all day or just for a morning or afternoon, with the warehouse in Hedgerley open from Monday to Friday.
