Allen strikes again to fire Holmer Green into semis

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

THREE goals in as many games from Dean Allen booked Holmer Green a county cup semi-final spot and moved them up to their equal highest league position of the season.

Allen scored the only goal of the game against Cockfosters on Saturday to move the Greens up to sixth in the Spartan South Midlands Premier, although midweek results pushed them back down to seventh.

While that was happening on Tuesday night, Holmer were busy knocking Hellenic Premier side Milton United out of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy quarter-finals.

Holmer appeared to be cruising when goals from Allen, Joe Collins, Ryan Wilmott and James Burrell put them 4-1, but Milton pulled it back to 4-3 before Allen clinched a 5-3 win with his second of the night.

In Division One, Chesham United reserves lost 4-2 at home to Hillingdon Borough, despite goals from Jack Harris and Jay Caines, while a Callum Neal was not enough for Amersham Town as they went down 2-1 at Tottenhoe in Division Two.

This Saturday sees Holmer visit Harefield United, Chesham host Broadfields United and Amersham travel to Aston Clinton. Holmer then welcome Berkhamsted on Tuesday, and Chesham host Risborough Rangers on Wednesday.
