Man dies in lay-by collision
A MAN has died following a collision with a heavy goods vehicle parked in a motorway layby.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the crash at the A40 Western Avenue, Denham.
The incident took place at about 3am on Tuesday, February 2 when a white Skoda Octavia, travelling eastbound on the M40 where it merges with the A40, collided with a heavy goods vehicle which was parked in a layby.
The driver of the Skoda, a man in his 30s, who was the only person in the car, died at the scene.
The lorry driver was not injured.
The road was closed in the area while emergency services attended the scene. Drivers were advised to take alternative routes to avoid congestion caused by the incident.
PC Julia Stroud, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: “The cause of the collision is under investigation and we would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who saw the Skoda travelling prior to the incident. If anyone has any information, please contact police to speak to the serious collision investigation unit.”
