Ot­ters make a splash at meet

CHAL­FONT Ot­ters Swim­ming Club en­joyed their most suc­cess­ful Coun­ties Ju­nior Cham­pi­onships ever, win­ning 48 medals.

Over half of those who com­peted won medals or rosettes - 24 gold, 15 sil­ver, nine bronze and 44 rosettes - at the event in Maiden­head last week­end.

Gold medal­lists in­cluded James McClenn, with 13 golds, Sadie Lu­cas who won five golds, three golds were won by Max Tul­loch, Olivia Lee came home with two golds and Hugo Lane scooped one.

On Satur­day James McClenn, Olivia Lee, Max Tul­loch and Sadie Lu­cas won gold, sil­ver and bronze medals, Sam Clark won three sil­vers and a bronze and Hugo Lane and Charley Huggett both won a sil­ver.

In the Ju­nior Cham­pi­onships Fi­nals – for all 50m and 100m events – James won three cups and Sam two sil­vers and a bronze.

10 more medals were won on Sun­day with a first gold meal for Hugo Lane.

James McClenn won two more cups and se­cured his sixth Ju­nior Cham­pi­onship Cup in 100m back­stroke, Sam Clark won an­other sil­ver and bronze and Jack Eden and Ze­bina Ge­orge made the Cham­pi­onship Fi­nals

15 girls took part in the 50m freestyle heat, with first time ap­pear­ances for Zoe Hol­li­gan, Maddie Rae, Ella Reid, Ed­ina Ge­orge and Alex Macal­lis­ter.

Sam Clark scooped seven sil­ver and three bronze medals and Daniella Hoy­land won bronze for her ef­forts in the 200m back­stroke.

In the over­all rank­ings, Sadie Lu­cas is se­cond in the girls over­all stand­ings with Olivia Lee 11th.

In the boys sec­tion, James McClenn is 4th and Sam Clark 11th.
