Pugilists set sights on league after quarter final exit

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

WET weather again disrupted the Chesham Sunday League schedule last weekend, with all but three fixtures cancelled.

In the County Junior Cup, Old Belmont Pugilists’ impressive run to the quarter finals came to an end with a 4-0 home defeat to Trix.

Despite the disappointment, they still have much to play for, especially sitting well-placed for Division One honours.

Elsewhere, the League Cup also reached the quarter final stage, where Magpies 91 Reserves and Dinamo Chequers contested a seven goal thriller which eventually went the way of the Dinamo 4-3.

Goals for Mags from Nathan Simpson, George Larkin and Marcus Furneaux-Harris always had the hosts in contention, but Dinamo struck four times to win the tie through Trevon Moora, Scott Johnston, Kyle Glaser and Dan Fletcher.

Further cup action in the Vale of Aylesbury competition pitted Chesham Athletic (Black Cat) against fellow CSL outfit Maclay FC in the second round. Jason Duncan was on target for Athletic, but Maclay netted four in reply, three from the penalty spot (Whittaker, Hedge and Young), while Cowland added the fourth in conventional manner.
