CHILDREN flocked to Gerrards Cross Library on Saturday to celebrate their love of books on National Libraries Day.

Youngsters, including Elodie Martin, eight, came dressed as Harry Potter characters as the library held a craft day themed on the boy wizard.

Manager Lorraine Surridge said: “All of our plans came together. We had some fun activities.

“It was busier later on because the weather was so bad.

“We kept it open all day and we had lots of people in the afternoon.”

Mrs Surridge said all of the children had a great time.

“They were lovely,” she said. “They were excellent. We had games out.

“We were trying to show library services – people never thought beforehand they could enjoy and a lot of games.

“We were very pleased that we could demonstrate other library services.”

The library currently has a short story competition ongoing – visit www. tinyurl.com/gxlibnld for information.
