TUFNELL’S A BIG HIT AT FUNDRAISER
Former England cricketer Phil Tufnell shows support at Scanappeal event
FORMER England cricket star Phil Tufnell helped boost funds for a Bucks charity when he appeared at an event.
Sharing stories of his sporting highlights, life as a television star and offering a window into his colourful life, the former spin bowler wowed a 300-strong audience and helped to raise valuable funds for Scannappeal, a charity which provides cutting edge equipment for Buckinghamshire’s NHS hospitals.
The evening, which took place on Thursday, February 4, was hosted by Sytner High Wycombe and was a sell-out event, marking the first time Phil has worked with Scannappeal.
Fund raising on the night included the chance to bid for a round of golf with the former cricketer, and raised more than £5,500 with all funds going to support the charity’s Laser Heart Appeal.
Actor Robert Lindsay, the charity’s newly appointed prinicipal patron, also attended.
He said: “The event was a raging success. Phil wowed the audience with his stories and guests were so very generous in their support of our cause.
“It was a fantastic privilege to be part of such an entertaining evening which also helped to deliver the final funds enabling us to meet our £100,000 goal for Scannappeal Laser Heart Appeal.”
