Yo ho ho! Young pirates in search of treasure at school
AN army of pirates took over an Amersham school as part of their Over and Under the Sea project.
The year two pupils at Heatherton House School, in Amersham, enjoyed a rip-roaring pirate-themed day.
Not only did all the girls and staff get dressed up for the day, but they also learned and performed a pirate dance in front of the whole school, completed special pirate maths challenges and made their own buccaneer hats and telescopes.
But the highlight of the girls’ day was a specially designed treasure hunt where adventuring teams headed into the school’s grounds, followed clues and read special treasure maps to find tasty buried treasure.
Pupil Stella Berens said: “Pirate Day was amazing. The best bit was making our hats and going on the treasure hunt.” Year two teacher ‘Captain’ Wendy Phillips said: “The girls have all learned so much from this special day, and we all had a lot of fun too!”
