ANYA’S HIGH HOOPS FOR GLORY

A SIXTH for­mer is cel­e­brat­ing af­ter be­ing se­lected to rep­re­sent Eng­land at the Net­ball Euro­pean Cham­pi­onships.

Anya Wood, 17, of Bea­cons­field High School, has been picked for the Eng­land Un­der 17 squad for the cham­pi­onships, which will take place in Gi­bral­tar in March.

She is fol­low­ing in the foot­steps of her coaches Jade Forbes-Wat­t­ley and Kathryn Rat­na­pala, who have both com­peted for Eng­land net­ball.

Anya is putting an enor­mous amount of ef­fort into train­ing with her Re­gional Per­for­mance Academy at Brunel, Bea­cons­field High School net­ball team and Clan Net­ball Club and was de­lighted to be se­lected while at Na­tional Academy train­ing camp at the EIS in Sh­effield.

Kathryn said: “We wish Anya the very best of luck for the tour­na­ment, she has a lot of train­ing and prepa­ra­tion to get through be­fore she de­parts but we’re sup­port­ing her all the way. Clan Net­ball are proud of her and know this is just the start for her.”
