School has a ball to raise autism funds
AN ESTATE agent has come forward to sponsor a school’s summer ball, which is set to raise money for charity.
Ashington Page, a Beaconsfield-based estate agent, is sponsoring the Seer Green CE School Bluebell Ball, which will be held on Saturday May 7 in aid of the National Autistic Society and Seer Green School PTA.
The idea for the ball originated with two parents at the school, Katharine Parker and Rebecca Doyle, both of whom have autistic children attending Seer Green School.
The two mothers approached Ashington Page and asked if it wanted to be the main sponsor, and the business agreed.
Katharine said: “Any charity event relies hugely on people giving their time and effort in order to be a success, but in this case we would not have been able to meet the advance payments for the marquee and catering without the help of Ashington Page.
“Ashington Page’s generosity has put us in a position where we can put on a bigger and better evening and therefore raise even more money for our charities.
“Seer Green School always needs help in providing extra resources for the children, while autism affects one in 68 people to varying degrees.
“Therefore the ball represents a great opportunity for us as we have a captive audience who will hopefully leave after a fantastic evening with enlightened minds and lighter pockets.”
Gareth Ashington, managing director of Ashington Page, said: “We are very happy to support the Bluebell Ball committee in raising funds for The National Autistic Society and Seer Green School PTA. Indeed, we look forward to continuing to support the school as the years go by.
“It is fabulous that this event will increase awareness of autism.”
