Children’s social services ‘improved’

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

BUCKS County Council is making ‘significant improvements’ to its children’s social care services, according to the Department for Education (DfE).

Minister of state for children and families Edward Timpson said that the service is showing clear signs of progress, and confirmed that the DfE will not increase the current level of intervention provided to the council, and will be reviewed again this summer.

The minister made his statements in a letter, which followed a visit by staff from DfE in November year to review what improvements had been made since an Ofsted inspection in 2014, which found the service to be inadequate.

Lin Hazell, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “The minister’s decision shows that we are improving and are moving in the right direction.”

The county council says improvements will continue to be made, and that the police and NHS in the county will be working alongside them to ensure that happens. the last
