Chiltern Hills paint­ing up for auc­tion

A PAINT­ING of the Chiltern Hills will be auc­tioned off to the high­est bid­der in aid of char­ity this month.

A paint­ing by Brian Ben­nett, one of the best-known liv­ing painters of the Chilterns, has been do­nated to Ren­nie Grove Hospice Care to auc­tion off.

The paint­ing – which cap­tures the beau­ti­ful hues of the Chilterns’ coun­try­side in swathes of golden corn ta­per­ing into vi­brant hedgerows and a patch­work of fields un­der a blue, cloud­stud­ded sky – will be avail­able to see by ap­point­ment at the Hawker Gallery in Amer­sham through­out March.

The paint­ing size is 16” x 22” and with the frame is 22” x 28”.

Brian Ben­nett is es­sen­tially a land­scape painter and the woods and wa­ter­ways of the Chiltern Hills, where he lives, are the sub­ject of a great deal of his work.

His dis­tinc­tive method of paint­ing in oils with a paint­ing knife has seen his col­lec­tion of work ex­hib­ited all over the world which in­clude the Royal Academy and the Royal So­ci­ety of Bri­tish Artists.

The paint­ing has a re­serve price of £900.
