A THRIVING young entrepreneur has had her buisiness nominated in the Buckinghamshire Food and Drink Awards 2016.

Gemma Sisson, from Gerrards Cross, runs baking company the Kitchen Mixer, and has been nominated for Independent Food Retailer or Producer of the Year.

She said: “2016 has started with a bang, having been nominated for this award. Being thought of as one of Buckinghamshire’s finest producers doesn’t come lightly.

“For me this is an accomplishment in itself, especially when other great independent producers are nominated within the category.

“Baking in the kitchen is so rewarding when people compliment the products at local markets or make the time to email you. It also creates a more personal interface which you do not get in the supermarket.

“Thank you to the customers who continue to buy and enjoy their cakes. It is also fantastic to have the support of other locals businesses. For all my 26 years I have lived in Gerrards Cross, I would consider myself a true local producer., from which having the support of the community buying my products has enabled my business to bloom.”

She added: “Here is to an exciting time ahead – watch this cake business rise.”

Voting is open until May 9.
