Pupils learn about Jewish festival of Passover

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SCHOOLS -

St Mary’s School in Old Amersham was paid a visit by Geoff Hassell from the South Bucks Jewish Community last week.

He went to the school in Church Street to talk to its year three and four pupils about the festival of Pasach – the Passover, which is a festival echoed by the Christian festival of Easter.

The children had a chance to wear masks that depicted the 10 plagues suffered and also to try some unleavened bread – Matzo. Dawn Lammin from the school said: “The children all learnt lots and enjoyed the ways that Mr Hassell brought the story of the Passover to life, which is important as we soon break up to celebrate this special festival.”
