House­builder en­cour­ag­ing vil­lagers to share mem­o­ries

HOUSE­BUILDER firm McCarthy and Stone has launched an ap­peal for peo­ple to share their mem­o­ries of Den­ham.

Con­struc­tion of a new devel­op­ment at Land­mark Place – due to wel­come its first home­own­ers by the end of 2016 – has in­spired the house­builder to pay homage to the area’s his­tory.

The com­pany is en­cour­ag­ing lo­cal peo­ple to share their cher­ished pic­tures of the vil­lage from a past era to show how the area has changed.

A framed gallery of mem­o­ries will then be cre­ated in the devel­op­ment, with the win­ning three en­tries awarded £50 worth of Marks & Spencer vouch­ers.

Elaine Strat­ford, sales and mar­ket­ing di­rec­tor, said: “We are com­mit­ted to en­gag­ing with the lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties sur­round­ing our de­vel­op­ments and we wanted to cel­e­brate the site’s his­tory as we em­bark on the next phase of its life, pro­vid­ing high-qual­ity, ac­com­mo­da­tion for those aged over 60.

“As such, we’ll be col­lect­ing peo­ple’s ar­chives and mem­o­ries of the area and their time spent here, to dis­play in a framed gallery at the devel­op­ment.”

Those wish­ing to take part should email their photos, mem­o­ries and con­tact de­tails to mc­carthyand­, or post to Past Times in Den­ham, C/O McCann PR, Com­mu­ni­ca­tions House, High­lands Road, Shirley, Soli­hull, West Mid­lands B90 4WE. En­tries should be sub­mit­ted no later than mid­night on March 31 2016.

Land­mark Place will com­prise 37 one and two bed­room re­tire­ment liv­ing apart­ments de­signed ex­clu­sively for the over-60s, with first oc­cu­pants ex­pected to be wel­comed to­ward the end of 2016.
