GARETH Ainsworth will sit down with Andrew Howard to discuss Wycombe Wanderers’ goals for the rest of the campaign after this afternoon reaching their season’s target.

The point gained from a goalless draw at Notts County was enough to reach the 61 points manager Ainsworth and chairman Howard targeted for a midtable finish.

Although Wanderers have been floating in and around the League Two play-off places all season, they have been careful not to talk up a top seven place so as not to raise expectation levels at the cashstrapped club.

However, all that may change now the magical number of 61 has been reached with seven games still remaining.

Ainsworth said: “I’ll be sitting down with Andrew Howard. This wasn’t just plucking a points total out of the sky, it was a structured thing of how this club should move forwards.

“I’m sure there will be a new message coming out, but we’ll keep that within the club until it’s ready to come out.

“It’s nice being around the top. It’s better than being around the bottom, I’ve been there before.

“Maybe the message will now change, but if we get no more points now it will still have been a successful season. For a club our size with our resources, it’s a great achievement.”
