Fruit trees saved by eco-war­rior group

E C O - WA R R I O R S from across Bucks got to­gether re­cently to save 15 fruit trees.

Par­ents and chil­dren from Char­tridge Com­bined School, vol­un­teers from The River Chess As­so­ci­a­tion and vol­un­teers from Lown­des Com­mu­nity Orchard group joined forces to plant a va­ri­ety of old and lo­cally in­dige­nous trees in Lown­des Park, Che­sham, re­cently.

The had orig­i­nally been planned for a new orchard at Char­tridge Com­bined School, but due to con­struc­tion works the project has been de­layed un­til Oc­to­ber.

At the last mo­ment, the Lown­des Com­mu­nity Orchard group stepped in and res­cued the trees, find­ing space for them next to their ex­ist­ing orchard, bring­ing the to­tal up to 50.
