WI members enjoy a day of discovery

As well as the displays of flowers, vegetables, cookery and floral arrangements, there will also be a raffle and teas available.
As part of National Earthlings Day on Thursday, April 14, venues across the UK are hosting screenings of Earthlings, a documentary exploring humankind’s dependence on animals for economic purposes, looking at pets, food, clothing, entertainment and research.
Following a nationwide crowd-funding campaign, Chesham has been chosen as one of the locations to receive backing.
The screening will be held in the Lowndes Room at Chesham Town Hall on Thursday, April 14.
Doors open at 6.45pm and the film will start at 7pm.
Audience members will be offered £5 as well as a goodie bag containing ethically-sourced food and drink.
The organisers will be available at the end of the screening to answer questions.

Latimer and Ley Hill Parish Council will hold its Annual General Meeting at Ley Hill Methodist Chapel on Monday, April 25 at 7.30pm.
Local issues will be raised and attendees have the chance to meet their parish councillors and ask questions.

Latimer and Ley hill Parish Council has organised an event to take place to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
A Village Beacon Lighting will be held on April 21 from 7pm on Ley Hill Common.
At 7.05pm there will be a grand parade of guides and scouts. At 7.15pm there will be a blessing and the singing of God Save the Queen before the beacon lighting at 7.30pm.
There will be free glow sticks for children, sponsored by Chesham and Ley Hill Golf Club, as well as a barbecue outside The Crown.
