Forum success, but still room for more
A NETWORKING and breakfast forum for lawyers, hosted by a leading accountancy firm, has grown since last year by a third, with at least half of the audience new faces.
Partners and staff at top 20 accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy’s Amersham office, regularly hold WK Law seminars which are aimed at lawyers looking to expand their knowledge in accountingrelated matters.
The event held on the morning of March 22 was the fourth to be held at the Bedford Arms Hotel in Chenies.
There were two speakers, Tim Collerton, who is a partner, and Colin Fletcher, senior financial planner at Wilkins Kennedy’s financial planning arm.
Mr Collerton addressed the room with a brief talk on recent updates to inheritance tax, particularly the introduction of the residence nil rate band, changes to rules for non- domiciled individuals and tax planning in relation to trusts.
He was then followed by Mr Fletcher who presented a topic on pensions, recent updates and forthcoming changes, as well as effective year-end tax planning.
David Cary, partner and event host, said: “We were pleased to welcome a room full of people for our latest WK Law event, which has been our best yet in terms of numbers and on positive feedback given by the guests.
“Around half of our guests were attending for the first time, but the other half were returning networkers who have been coming to our WK Law events from the beginning.
“Overall, we have improved on numbers by around a third since moving to our new venue in March 2015 – but there is still room for plenty more.
“We look forward to welcoming you to our next event in June 2016.”
