With a spring in their step

Young artists are com­mended for com­pe­ti­tion work

SCHOOLKIDS from four Bucks schools were pre­sented with awards by the Chiltern DFAS Young Arts Group re­cently.

The schools which took part in this year’s paint­ing com­pe­ti­tion – held for the fifth year run­ning – were Robertswood. Chal­font St Peter CofE Academy, Chal­font St Giles Vil­lage School and St Mary’s School, Ger­rards Cross, with the topic be­ing spring time.

Young arts leader Meg Blund­son wel­comed the young artists and their fam­i­lies and friends.

Sue Gil­bert, na­tional chair­man of young arts, and Felic­ity Sykes, area chair­man were present and prizes were pre­sented by chair­man Lionel An­thony.

Four­teen chil­dren were awarded Highly Com­mended cer­tifi­cates and four school prizes were awarded with a cer­tifi­cate and the three win­ners were awarded medals, a prize and a cer­tifi­cate.

Amelia Leis­ten from Robertswood won the gold medal, Fei-Bi Allen from Chal­font St Peter CofE Academy was awarded the sil­ver medal and Molly Evans from Robertswood won the bronze.

School Prizes were awarded to Het­tie Rid­out, Robertswood, Daina Jenk­ins, Chal­font St Peter CofE Academy, Obi Green, Chal­font St Giles Vil­lage School and Anoushka Sekhri, St Mary’s School.

Each school will be vis­ited be­fore the Easter break when fur­ther cer­tifi­cates will be awarded and ev­ery child who en­tered the com­pe­ti­tion will re­ceive a com­mem­o­ra­tive badge to mark the oc­ca­sion.

Twenty one paint­ings are cur­rently dis­played in the li­brary and will re­main un­til the end of April.

Chal­font St Peter li­brary have hosted the event since it be­gan in 2012.

Karen Dick­son, on be­half of the li­brary, was pre­sented with two books for the chil­dren’s art sec­tion as a thank you for their hos­pi­tal­ity.
