Cholesbury-cum-St Leonards WI

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

AT the March meeting we had a very jolly and productive evening making jewellery for ourselves.

Carina Shergold brought along a great selection of beads, all colours, shapes and sizes, and imaginations went to work as we sorted through them and made our selections, aided by some very useful advice from Carina to help us with our creations.

We were each provided with a rectangular pad on which to assemble our choice, allowing us to decide upon the length of necklace or bracelet, or shape of earring, and to re-arrange our beads as the patterns emerged and we retrieved the beads from the floor. After threading our work we handed over to Catrina who put on the clasps while we had a cup of coffee and continued with other WI news.

The Group Meeting will be in Wendover on April 21 (the day of the Queen’s 90th birthday), the Annual Council Meeting will take place on April 27 in Aylesbury and Maids Moreton WI are hosting a Ramble and Lunch on May 21.

The schedule was available for the WI Co-operative Competition to be held at the County Show on September 1, where “Tea for the Queen” is the theme for entries, and the allocation date was given out for a day visit to Denman College in September.

One of our members had attended the Investigation and Discovery Day held recently in Aylesbury and said that it had been very good. And since our meeting, the results of our jewellery making have been worn and admired at local events.

There is an arts and design theme to our next meeting too as we are going to learn about the life and work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, look out for our posters and notices.
