Lit beacon to mark Queen’s birthday
BEACONSFIELD is set to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations with the lighting of a beacon.
The event is set to take place today (Thursday) at Beaconsfield Rugby Club, in Windsor End, at 7.30pm.
The beacon will be officially lit by the deputy lieutenant of Bucks Jenefer Farncombe, and the ceremony will be part of a celebration which will see more than 1,000 beacons being lit across the UK in order to celebrate the landmark occasion.
Bruno Peek, pageantmaster for the Queen’s 90th birthday beacons, said: “It has been an enormous privilege to organise this amazing community event to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Queen.
“I’m delighted to see so many different organisations playing their part.”
Refreshments will be available to purchase and it is hoped that as many people as possible go along to help mark the event.
