Lit bea­con to mark Queen’s birth­day

BEA­CONS­FIELD is set to mark the Queen’s 90th birth­day cel­e­bra­tions with the light­ing of a bea­con.

The event is set to take place to­day (Thurs­day) at Bea­cons­field Rugby Club, in Wind­sor End, at 7.30pm.

The bea­con will be of­fi­cially lit by the deputy lieu­tenant of Bucks Jene­fer Farn­combe, and the cer­e­mony will be part of a cel­e­bra­tion which will see more than 1,000 bea­cons be­ing lit across the UK in or­der to cel­e­brate the land­mark oc­ca­sion.

Bruno Peek, pageant­mas­ter for the Queen’s 90th birth­day bea­cons, said: “It has been an enor­mous priv­i­lege to or­gan­ise this amaz­ing com­mu­nity event to cel­e­brate the 90th birth­day of the Queen.

“I’m de­lighted to see so many dif­fer­ent or­gan­i­sa­tions play­ing their part.”

Re­fresh­ments will be avail­able to pur­chase and it is hoped that as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble go along to help mark the event.
