Stags U16s set two club records with tight Plate win

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

A LATE try from scrum-half George Pettifer saw Chesham Stags U16s lift the Bucks County Plate on Sunday with an 8-7 win over Bletchley.

Chesham led at half-time through Luke Bouchier’s penalty but found themselves 7-3 adrift with 10 minutes to go. However, with just five minutes left, after Chesham were held up over the line from a rolling maul, the ball squirted out of the resulting scrum for Pettifer to pounce and claim victory.

In doing so, the side set two club records. Not only is it the second county trophy Chesham have won this year following their success in the U13s Plate, but it is also the second year in a row that the Stags have won the U16s Plate.

Also in the squad are Chapman, Jarred Searle, Matt Harry Pawlak, Tom Collins, Vivek Gulati, Ben Popely, Mark Newsome, Will Scott, Luke Dawson, James Hogg, Ed Lunt, Calum Young, Max McLaughlin, Archie Baillie, Barnaby Bloom, Melusi Ndoro and Morgan Fielder.

To add to the celebrations, the U11s won the Saracens U11 Festival, while the U12s and U13s both beat Slough and the senior men’s team hammered Princes Risborough 53-0.
