A COUPLE will pound the pavements of London this weekend when they take part in the London Marathon.
Sarah and Dave Peterson, from Ley Hill, are taking part in the 26.2 mile race on Sunday to raise cash for Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
The couple completed their first marathon for the same charity in 2014 with their son Scott and his girlfriend Jess.
However, the couple have been spurred on to run the marathon again following the death of seven close friends.
Mrs Peterson said: “We’re not committed runners but have run the London Marathon once before with excellent support from Rennie Grove.
“Rennie Grove helped a good friend of ours in her last weeks a few years ago and having had seven friends pass away recently, this has given us the enthusiasm to run again.
“With fundraising activities and sponsorship, we want to raise a substantial sum so that Rennie Grove can continue to help and support others.”
The couple have already raised more than £5,600 for the charity.
About £4,000 of that was raised at a successful charity ball held at Ley Hill Memorial Centre in March, which was attended by about 100 people.
Mr Peterson also runs the weekly Sunday quiz at The Crown in Ley Hill and has hosted some charity quizzes.
This is the third year in a row members of the Peterson family have run the London Marathon for charity.
The Peterson’s youngest son Craig ran it last year with his friends Hannah Davison and Sam Prosser.
The couple are hoping to complete this year’s marathon in about six hours.
