Bumper years for Macmillan appeal
THE MACMILLAN fundraising committee had its best ever fundraising year raising £41,629 during 2015.
The news was confirmed at the Annual General Meeting of Macmillan’s Gerrards Cross and District Committee held at The Crowne Plaza Hotel Gerrards Cross on April 12. The committee has also been re-branded as Gerrards Cross and Buckinghamshire South Fundraising Group due to the closure of the High Wycombe and Marlow committee at the end of 2015.
Liz King, chairman of Gerrards Cross and Buckinghamshire South Fundraising Group, said: “We knew we were having a really good fundraising year in 2015 but we realised when the year-end accounts were completed by our treasurer that we’d raised £40,000 locally which was our best-ever end-of-year total and that was absolutely amazing.
“Then to be informed by Macmillan’s national finance team that other revenue remitted and credited to us meant that we had raised even more than we thought is awesome. We are really appreciative of all those people whose generosity has helped to raise this massive amount of money.
“It’s enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for over nine months helping people with cancer and their families to receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.”
