Actor backs Caring Gifts campaign
A WELL-KNOWN actor is getting behind a hospice’s fundraising initiative.
Television and film actor Geoffrey Palmer OBE is advocating a Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s fundraising initiative known as Caring Gifts Vouchers.
These Caring Gifts are gift vouchers for those difficult-to-buy-for people in your life.
Bucks resident Geoffrey, who is also a patron of Rennie Grove and long-standing supporter of the charity, purchases Caring Gifts every year.
He said: “Caring Gifts are just the thing for those times when you want to give someone a lovely present but you don’t want to give them something that they don’t really want or need.
“Every Christmas I buy Rennie Grove Caring Gift Vouchers for my family and friends, because it feels like I’m giving them something really worthwhile.
“They are such a good idea and would make great gifts at any time of the year for birthdays, anniversaries or even weddings. I’ll certainly be buying mine again this year and I hope that many others will join me.”
Rennie Grove has recently extended its range of Caring Gifts due to its popularity, offering vouchers from £5 to £150 in value.
The vouchers represent various services provided by the charity – for example, £10 could buy two boxes of needles for syringe pumps – essential pain-relieving equipment that can enable a patient to spend their final days at home. Or £50 could fund a support session for bereaved family members and £150 could pay for an entire nursing shift, ensuring patients have access to specialist care in their own home at any time of the day or night. The hospice’s director of fundraising and marketing Gillian Barnett said: “Our range of Caring Gifts vouchers were particularly popular at Christmas but as Geoffrey points out they are ideal presents all year round. We have recently made our Caring Gifts available as an e-voucher so they also make the perfect last– minute gift.
“Alternatively you can request a voucher to be posted to you. Either way, in buying one of these gifts you will be helping others to receive the care that they need from us.
